Monday's Living Water

Scripture

"I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

"I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one.

"They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

"Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth
John 17: 14-17

Reading - Slowly read the Scripture passage several times

Meditation - Take some time to reflect on the words and phrases in the text. Which words, phrases or images speak to you most?

Prayer - Offer the internalized passage back to God in the form of a personalized prayer of adoration, confession, renewal, petition, intercession, affirmation, or thanksgiving.

Contemplation - What word or image captures the spirit of the passage for you?

I love the powerful language - the concept of being sanctified, grown, preserved and altogether changed by "truth" while intentionally being left in the place we do not fit in...Jesus' plea to not remove us from the heat, but just protect us from defeat by the Enemy. We are indeed called to live an Epic life in Christ...I so often wrestle with the question of "am I living my life in the reality of the battlefield?" Realizing that the reality of battle and epic-proportion struggles are not dependent upon my living like they exist, my engagement and awareness merely determines what my story looks like.

Great meditation to start the week!
